Lawrence Township Applebee's Reopens After Fatal Shooting

The restaurant reopened at about 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to The Trentonian.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Applebee’s in which a man was shot and killed near the Quakerbridge Mall has reopened.

The Applebee’s on Brunswick Pike in Lawrence Township reopened at about 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, The Trentonian reports.

Devin Smith, 23, of Lawrence Township, was shot in the head while he drank alone at the bar at about 12:25 a.m. Tuesday morning. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The suspect, described as a black male in his mid 20s, then fled the property in a dark-colored SVU. The two reportedly had an unresolved feud. No arrests had been announced as of Wednesday afternoon.

Counseling was available to the staff that was at the restaurant at the time of the shooting, but Director of Operations Tom Lowe told the newspaper he didn’t know if anyone had taken advantage of those services. He also didn’t know if anyone had quit over the incident.

It is the first murder in Lawrence Township since Shawn Anderson was shot and killed at the Sleepy Hollow Motel on Brunswick Pike back in 2001, according to The Trentonian.
