Lawrence Youth Football Coach Assaulted Parent: Police
Bryan Carter surrendered to police this week in connection with a brawl during a youth football game on Oct. 20.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Ewing man has surrendered to police after allegedly inciting a brawl during a youth football game last week, police said on Friday. Bryan Carter, 38, has been charged with simple assault for grabbing a parent by the chest and throwing him to the ground during a game on Oct. 20, according to Lawrence Township police.
Carter, who is a coach for the Lawrence Jr. Cardinals, grabbed the man after a sideline tackle caused a disturbance amongst players, coaches and parents, police said. The 53-year-old man was a parent of one of the players for the team from Florence that Lawrence was playing. He wasn’t seriously injured.
The hit lead to some pushing and shoving among playerspushing and shoving among players, according to nj.com. Coaches from both sides, as well as parents, ultimately got involved in several skirmishes that occurred at the same time.
