Lawrenceville's Jon Stewart, Wife Turning New Jersey Farm Into Animal Rescue

Jon and Tracey Stewart recently purchased the home to provide a refuge for rescued animals.

It is exactly three months until Jon Stewart says farewell to The Daily Show. While it is known that Trevor Noah will succeed Stewart on the show, some have questioned what is next for late night talk show host.

That question was answered in part, when Farm Sanctuary announced that Stewart and his wife, Tracey, purchased a farm in New Jersey in order to provide a refuge for rescued animals.

Tracey Stewart, a Philadelphia native, learned of Farm Sanctuary by reading a copy of Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and Minds About Animals and Food in a rental house where she was staying.

As she became more dedicated to the cause, Jon Stewart devoted an 8-minute comedy segment on “The Daily Show” to Gov. Chris Christie’s refusal to sign a bill that would end the lifelong confinement of pigs in small crates.

Tracey Stewart also purchased Adopt a Farm Animal sponsorships for their Thanksgiving guests.

Farm Sanctuary named two recently rescued sheep Jon and Tracey in their honor.

Jon Stewart grew up in Lawrenceville and attended Lawrence High School. His final appearance on The Daily Show is Aug. 6.
