
The Lawrence High School baseball team opened the season in style on Monday by crushing Nottingham by a score of 9-1.
Jess Russo led the way for the Cardinals, with two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs in the victory. Nick Kagel provided a dominating pitching performance going seven innings, giving up one run on three hits, with four walks and eight strikeouts.
Kagel also helped himself at the plate by recording two hits. Tommy Ikeda (two hits), Pat Sweeney (two runs scored), John Turner (two runs scored), and Ralph Balestieri (two RBIs, one stolen base) also helped power the Cards to victory.

LHS will return to action on April 3 visiting Notre Dame and on April 5 visiting Trenton.
