Man Arrested In Burglaries, Car Thefts In Lawrence: Police

Keith Williams, 46 of Trenton, was arrested after he crashed a car he is accused of stealing in Trenton, police said.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Trenton man has been arrested and charged in connection with several burglaries and attempted burglaries in Lawrence Township after he got into an accident in a car he is accused of stealing, police announced.

Between April 21 and May 12, Lawrence Township police were investigating a rash of burglaries in the Colonial Lakelands section of the township, police said on Wednesday.

During this time, two occupied homes were burglarized when police believe 46-year-old Keith Williams entered through open windows. Williams stole property from inside both homes and a car from each residence, police said. Police believe he attempted to break into a third home, but failed.

Officers were also able to tie Williams to a break in attempt of a parked vehicle in the 1800 block of Princeton Avenue, which occurred just hours earlier, police said.

While on patrol on May 28, Lawrence Police Officer Marc Poveromo spotted Williams near the intersection of Princeton Pike and Franklin Corner Road, where he was arrested without incident, police said.

Williams has been charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of motor vehicle theft, two counts of attempted burglary, and multiple theft related charges. Williams was logged at the Mercer County Corrections Center awaiting a detention hearing.

Lawrence police are still looking for a stolen silver 2014 Acura MDX, which was taken during one of the burglaries. Police have reason to believe the correct license plates are no longer on the vehicle.

Officer John Stever and Detectives Joseph Radlinsky, Daniel Gladney, and Andrew Lee are credited with assisting in the month long investigation.
