Man Fatally Shot While Driving In Mercer County Thursday Night: Police

A passenger in the car drove the man to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.

A Trenton man was shot while driving in the city Thursday night, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office. A passenger in the car then took 30-year-old Lewis Young to Capital Health System-Fuld, where he was later pronounced dead.

The incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. Police didn’t indicate whether they believed Young was the target of the shooting. It wasn’t clear how many other people were in the car at the time.

No arrests have been made, and an autopsy has been scheduled for Friday. No other details were available Friday morning.

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are investigating the incident.

Thursday was Young's birthday, and he may have been intoxicated as he drove through the city, according to The Trentonian. He was a father and often posted on social media about his involvement in selling drugs.
