Man Shot Dead Inside Car In Mercer County: Prosecutor

Police found Daveigh Brooks in the driver's seat of a Ford Fusion, shot multiple times, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A 25-year-old Ewing resident was shot inside his car which was parked outside a home in Trenton Monday evening, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said.

Around 9:25 p.m. on Monday, Trenton police were dispatched to the rear of a home in the 300 block of Ellis Avenue for a Shot Spotter activation for multiple rounds.

Ewing police officers were already in the area of Princeton and Olden avenues on a motor vehicle stop when they heard gunshots, Onofri said. Ewing police arrived at the location and found a black Ford Fusion parked in the middle of Greeley Alley.

As officers approached the car, they found Daveigh Brooks, 25, of Ewing, in the driver’s seat, shot multiple times. Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene, Onofri said.

No arrests have been made. The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are investigating.
