Man Fatally Stabs Father In Mercer Co., Charged With Murder: Prosecutor

Joelle Jackson, 54, stabbed his 82-year-old father in the apartment they shared in Hopewell, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A Hopewell resident was charged with murder, after he stabbed his father to death in the apartment they shared, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri and Hopewell Police Chief James Rosso said Wednesday.

Joelle Jackson, 54, was charged with murder and weapons offenses. He was taken into custody Tuesday evening at the Hopewell Township Police Department.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Hopewell police responded to an apartment in the 700 block of Denow Road on the report of a man stabbed.

Inside the apartment, officers found Ishmeal Jackson, 82, on the kitchen floor suffering from multiple stab wounds, Onofri said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigation, on or about Monday, Joelle Jackson stabbed his father to death in the apartment they shared on Denow Road.

The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain Jackson pending trial.
