Man Wanted After ATV Runs Over Police Officer In Mercer County

The man is wanted for aggravated assault on a police officer, authorities said.

EWING TOWNSHIP, NJ — Authorities are seeking the public's assistance to help find a man wanted for assaulting a police officer over the weekend.

On Sunday, Ewing Police Dispatch received multiple calls regarding ATVs operating recklessly throughout town.

Around 5:30 p.m., an officer encountered a man trying to fuel an ATV at the Delta Gas Station, located at 1513 Princeton Avenue.

The officer left his patrol vehicle and tried to stop the man on the ATV, at which point he drove over the officer, police said.

Additional responding officers engaged in a short pursuit of the ATV before the chase was terminated for safety reasons.

The officer who was struck by the ATV was brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect involved in the incident is wanted for aggravated assault on a police officer.
