MCCC Celebrates $125K Donation From NJM For Expansion
Mercer County Community College has dedicated a plaque at Trenton Hall on the college's James Kerney Campus to recognize the donation.

Mercer County Community College has dedicated a plaque at Trenton Hall on the college’s James Kerney Campus in recognition of NJM Insurance Group’s (NJM) $125,000 donation, the college announced on Thursday. The donation was made to help the college expand its campus in downtown Trenton.
The plaque, mounted in the lobby of the recently-renovated Trenton Hall, reads: “Dedicated to the Educational Mission of Mercer County Community College in the City of Trenton.”
“As a long-time partner of Mercer County Community College, NJM is very pleased to support the expansion of MCCC’s campus and career training programs in downtown Trenton,” NJM Vice President of Public Affairs Mike Van Wagner said. “The impressive renovations of Trenton Hall and the Trenton Hall Annex have created an exciting ‘new’ educational and community space in the heart of our capital city.”

Trenton Hall opened in 2012 as the home for the college’s Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising programs. The building featured a computer lab for use by Visual Arts and Fashion Design students, as well as a general use classroom and a storefront gallery.
Earlier this year, the college opened the Trenton Hall Annex, an 8,500-square-foot addition in which students can take classes in Security Systems Technology, Cyber Security, Certified Nurse Assistant, Phlebotomy and EKG (electrocardiogram) Technician prep.

It also features a new art gallery, community meeting space and a courtyard on the ground floor. Additional expansion projects for the campus are in the works, according to Mercer County Community College President Dr. Jianping Wang. However, the support of the business community is “of the utmost importance,” Wang said.
“Like NJM, Mercer County Community College believes no one can do it alone,” Wang said. “Having a partner like NJM is so important. We are training the 21st century workforce, and higher education has to be the engine of economic development.”
Trenton Hall is located at 137 North Broad Street.
