Mercer Co. Hit-&-Run Driver Arrested After 3-Month Manhunt: Police
Eduardo Reyes, 33, evaded local police for months before U.S. Marshals tracked him down.
TRENTON, NJ — A Trenton man wanted in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian with a broken neck and a fractured skull was arrested last week after a months-long search, authorities said.
Eduardo A. Reyes, 33, of South Broad Street, was taken into custody on Feb. 20 around 8:45 a.m. at a gas station at 102 South Olden Ave. after U.S. Marshals Service investigators located him there following weeks of surveillance and investigative work, Trenton Police said.
The arrest stems from a Nov. 16, 2025, incident in which a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in front of 424 Division St. The victim suffered a broken neck, fractured skull and multiple other injuries. The driver left the scene without stopping.

Trenton police identified Reyes as the driver and obtained a warrant for his arrest on Dec. 4, 2025. After repeated attempts to locate him proved unsuccessful, detectives requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Reyes faces four charges aggravated assault by vehicle, leaving the scene of a serious accident, endangering an injured victim and a second-degree aggravated assault charge from a separate 2023 incident in which he struck an acquaintance with a blunt object, police said. He had also failed to appear in court on that earlier case.

Trenton Police took Reyes to headquarters after his arrest for processing.
During the arrest, two other people present at the scene were taken into custody by federal authorities on matters unrelated to the Trenton investigation.
Trenton police said they did not request, direct or have any involvement in those detentions, and did not contact U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement regarding anyone present. The department noted it operates under New Jersey's Immigrant Trust Directive, which prohibits local police from participating in civil immigration enforcement.
