Mercer Cop Released From Hospital After Hit-&-Run: Officials

Patrolman Connor Boyle was struck when he was assisting a disabled vehicle on Route 130 on Saturday night.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A Mercer County police officer who was injured after a hit-and-run crash has been released from the hospital to recover at home, the Robbinsville Township Police Department said.

Patrolman Connor Boyle, 25, was assisting a disabled vehicle on Route 130 southbound on Saturday night when a 2020 Volkswagen Passat struck the patrol car and officer, as well as the disabled vehicle, before continuing to travel south on Route 130, Robbinsville police said.

Boyle was able to radio for assistance and was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

“The Robbinsville Township Police Department and Director of Public Safety Dave Fried are happy to report that Patrolman Connor Boyle, 25, was released from the hospital and sent home to begin the healing process following Saturday night's harrowing hit-and-run accident on Route 130 south near Voelbel Road,” the police department said.

The Police Department and Mayor Dave Fried also thanked firefighters, EMS and doctors and nurses at Capital Health for taking care of Boyle.

They also thanked “the community, elected officials, local business owners, colleagues in law enforcement, fire and EMS for their outpouring of support, thoughts, prayers and words of encouragement - they mean the world to Patrolman Boyle and all of the officers and dispatchers of the Robbinsville Police Department.”

Boyle is expected to make a full recovery and “looks forward to getting back to work in his new position as School Resource Officer at Pond Road Middle School,” the department said.

Boyle was struck by East Windsor resident Rachel Glatt, 52. She has been charged with second-degree aggravated assault on a police officer and fourth-degree assault by auto as well as various reckless driving and hit-and-run charges.
