Mercer County Fugitive Captured in Georgia
Dewayne Pinkney, 47, was wanted for failure to appear on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and terroristic threats.

A fugitive from Mercer County was captured in a multi-jurisdictional effort in Douglas County, Georgia, this week, Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler announced this week.
Dewayne Pinkney, 47, was wanted for failure to appear in New Jersey State Superior Court in April of 2015 on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and terroristic threats.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force launched a comprehensive investigation, and discovered that Pinkney was hiding in the Metro-Atlanta area.

The U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Douglas
County Sheriff’s Office found Pinkney in a home about 25 miles outside Atlanta. They arrested him without incident on May 4.

“Our joint efforts with the U. S. Marshals play a major role in capturing violent criminals both near and far,” Kemler said. “Special thanks to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department for all of their hard work and efforts to apprehend a dangerous fugitive.”
