One person was arrested and $100,000 in cocaine was seized this week, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri announced.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service informed the prosecutor’s office about multiple packages being delivered to a residence on Emmett Avenue in Trenton from Torrance, California, Onofri said.

They said one package contained about three and a half pounds of cocaine worth $100,000, Onofri said. Federal and state search warrants were then obtained.

The package was delivered to the Trenton home on Monday, Feb. 25, Onofri said. Officers said they saw 30-year-old Demar Davis approach the mail carrier and provide proof that the package belonged to him.

Once the package was in Davis’s possession, the officers moved in and arrested him, Onofri said. He is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with the intent to distribute. He is being held at the Mercer County Correction Center pending a detention hearing.

Officers with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the Hamilton, Princeton and Trenton police, under the command of the prosecutor’s Special Investigations Unit, assisted with the investigation.
