Mercer County Man Charged in Fatal Shooting: Prosecutor
Alberto Perez is charged in the shooting death of 25-year-old Jonathan Jimenez.

A 27-year-old Mercer County man has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Jonathan Jimenez, Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said on Wednesday.
Alberto A. Perez, 37, of Trenton, is charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Trenton Police found the 25-year-old Jimenez lying in the street in the area of 35 Cummings Avenue at about 10:35 p.m. on Tuesday night, Aug. 5, while responding to a report of a shooting in progress.

Jimenez was unconscious and unresponsive, suffering a gunshot wound through the chest. He was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Perez was served his complaints on Tuesday afternoon at the prosecutor’s office. He was then returned to the Mercer County Correction Center in Hopewell, where he was being held on warrants after being remanded over the weekend. Bail on the homicide was set at $750,000 cash or bond.
