Mercer County Sheriff Takes Back 38 Pounds Of Drugs
The event gave Mercer County residents the chance to dispose of unneeded and expired prescription drugs.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office collected 38 pounds of unused or expired prescription drugs for disposal during its Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 27, Sheriff Jack Kemler announced.
The event gave Mercer County residents the chance to dispose of unneeded and expired prescription drugs. The goal was to help local residents to rid their medicine cabinets of unused and easily abused opioid painkillers, in addition to any other unneeded prescription medications.
A wide range of prescription drugs was turned in for disposal, from everyday prescription blood pressure and heart medications to deadly oxycodone and fentanyl products, according to Kemler.
The drugs were weighed, secured, and turned over to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and immediately destroyed, Kemler said.
