Nature Center Series To Explore The Wildlife Of Mercer County

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Visitors to the Tulpehaking Nature Center will have the chance to learn about wildlife in Mercer County this winter. The first of the six-part series will take place on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Other sessions will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, Jan. 5 and 18, and Feb. 2 and 8 at the same time.

Lectures will explore bats, spiders, raptors and more, as well as the common myths and misconceptions that surround some of these creatures. Other topics for the lectures include how to create backyard refuges for the wildlife in the area and where to find them.

Wildlife experts from Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey and the Friends for the Abbott Marshlands will be on site to present the lectures and answer any questions.

The Winter Lecture Series is a free program and appropriate for teens and adults. Registration is required through Community Pass. For more information on this program, or to set up an account to register, call 609-888-3218.

The Tulpehaking Nature Center is located at 157 Westcott Avenue in Hamilton Township. It is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. For more information about the nature center, programs and schedule of events, visit www.mercercountyparks.org.
