New Breakfast & Lunch Spot Coming To Lawrenceville
Marmalade, a luncheonette from The Gingered Peach team, is being built steps from the popular bakery.
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — A new breakfast and lunch spot from the team behind The Gingered Peach is taking shape in Lawrenceville.
Marmalade, a luncheonette, is being built on Gordon Avenue, across a parking lot from The Gingered Peach bakery at 2 Gordon Ave. Joanne Canady-Brown owns the bakery and is putting the new restaurant together with her team.
The site was once home to a garage. Fred Gomberg, a real estate agent, recently shared a look at the project in a Facebook video.

“This parking lot was at one time just kind of useless, and there was a garage here, and now it’s going to be one of the meetup spots, the hot spots in downtown Lawrence,” Gomberg said. “It’s going to be something special.”
He called it “Lawrenceville’s newest, most unique restaurant” and said it will be “well worth the wait.”

No opening date has been announced.
The Lawrence Township Planning Board approved plans to turn the old garage into a luncheonette in 2022, WPST reported at the time. Back then, the plan called for Marmalade to open in summer 2023 and serve baked goods from The Gingered Peach alongside classic short-order dishes.
Real Estate NJ later reported that Hullfish Real Estate Co. secured a $2 million loan that would go toward developing the 60-seat restaurant.
Marmalade will add to Canady-Brown’s growing list of local businesses. Along with The Gingered Peach, she owns Melba Ice Creamery, which replaced The Purple Cow on Main Street, and Rojo’s Roastery in Princeton.
