911 Audio From Fatal Applebee's Shooting Reveals Chaotic Scene
The shooting happened so fast, an employee told a 911 dispatcher in audio files obtained by nj.com.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — In the chaotic moments after 23-year-old Devin Smith was shot at an Applebee’s bar in Lawrence Township earlier this month, police received a pair of 911 calls about a man who was “face down at the bar” after being shot.
“He's not moving at all," one caller said, according to audio files released to nj.com. In an earlier call, an employee told a dispatcher “it happened so fast, nobody knows what happened.” The caller also says the restaurant has cameras, and the dispatcher asks them to pull footage for arriving police officers.
The dispatcher asked one of the callers to put Smith on his back, which the caller did “hesitantly,” according to NJ 101.5. The dispatcher then gave the caller instructions on how to deliver CPR.

However, Smith was pronounced dead at the scene when police and medical officials arrived. Ultimately, 27-year-old Noel Powell, of Lawrence Township, was arrested and charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Smith, a Lawrence Township man who was the father of a three-year-old girl, was alone and drinking at the bar when police say Powell approached him and shot him in the head at about 12:25 a.m. No one else was injured in the shooting.

Powell escaped in a dark colored SUV, but surrendered to police five days later. The SUV, which belonged to another person, has been recovered.
Police haven’t provided a motive in the shooting, but it is believed the shooting may be tied to an ongoing feud between the two.
