Obituary: Catherine Lekas Dertouzos, 87

Former Lawrence Township resident died Sept. 3.

Catherine Lekas Dertouzos, 87, of Exton, Pa., formerly of Lawrence Township, died Saturday, Sept. 3, at Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honeybrook, Pa.

Born in New York City in 1924, she was a graduate of George Washington High School. She graduated from Mercer County Community College in 1978 and earned a Bachelor of Arts from The College of New Jersey in 1980.

In addition to the varied jobs she held over the years, she was involved in many volunteer groups such as Cub Scouts, Rider University Faculty Wives, American Women’s Organization Group of Greece, other church groups and the local PTA. She was an established artist whose work appeared in many local art exhibitions. She enjoyed playing Bridge and loved her many friends, family and grand children.

She was predeceased by her first husband of 48 years, Demetrios N. Dertouzos, the former Dean of the School of Business Administration at Rider University; her second husband, Paul E. Legassie of Falmouth, Mass., with whom she shared five years of marriage; and her brother and sister-in-law, John and Lorraine Lekas.

Surviving are her three sons and daughters-in-law; James and Judith Dertouzos of Encino, Calif, John and Susan Dertouzos of Exton, Pa., and Thomas and Barbara Dertouzos of North Wales, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Michael, Catherine, Cristina, Stephanie, Laurel, Nicholas, and Anna; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anne and Emilio Arcamone; nephews Peter and Doug; and niece Debbie.

Services will be held at Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Ave., Princeton Borough, N.J., on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 12:30 p.m.

Burial will follow at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton.

Visitation will precede the service from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
