Police Officer Charged With Strangling Girlfriend In Lawrence Township
Elijah Mitchell, 28, of Lawrence Township is a Trenton police officer. He was arrested Friday, authorties said.
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — A Trenton police officer who lives in Lawrence Township has been charged with domestic violence strangulating, endangering the welfare of a child and other offenses, Lawrence Township Police Department said.
Elijah Mitchell, 28, of Lawrence is a Trenton police officer. He was charged with 3 Counts of domestic violence strangulation, 2 counts of threat to kill, 1 count of criminal coercion and 1 count of endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities learned of the incident on Aug. 4 from Princeton Police. The incident was originally reported to the Princeton Police Department but was discovered to have happened in Lawrence Township.

According to investigation, the victim was assaulted several times by her boyfriend at their residence on Sturwood Way, beginning in March this year.
Mitchell was taken into custody on Aug. 12.
