Open Enrollment For Affordable Care Act Underway In Mercer County

Mercer County residents can receive free enrollment assistance at the Mercer County Connection office in Hamilton.

The open enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is underway.

Open enrollment runs from Nov. 1, 2016-Jan. 31, 2017, and Mercer County residents can receive free enrollment assistance at the Mercer County Connection office in Hamilton, if needed.

Trained enrollment assisters will help people compare health plans and fill out applications at County Connection, 957 Route 33 in the Acme Shopping Center, county officials said on Tuesday.

Assisters will be on site throughout November on Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; and Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enrollment assistance at County Connection is by appointment only. To make an appointment, call 609-890-9800.

“This is a great opportunity for people who want help in accessing quality, affordable health coverage before the enrollment period closes,” Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes said. “I urge anyone who needs health insurance to take advantage of this in-person assistance.”

Enrollment assistance is provided by Health Insurance Marketplace SRA, which is federally contracted to help with the ACA enrollment process.

People planning to enroll should bring the following information for all household members: Social Security numbers, birth dates, employer and income information (pay stubs or W-2 forms), and policy numbers for any health insurance plans.
