Pair Caught Stealing Copper Wire In Mercer, Charged With Burglary: PD

Javier Torres and Matthew Kerr were found "actively burglarizing" Lockwood Electric in Hamilton Township, police said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Two men were charged with burglary and theft after they were caught stealing copper wire from an electric motor repair business, Hamilton Police said Friday.

On Thursday at 4:30 a.m., officers found Javier Torres and Matthew Kerr "actively burglarizing" Lockwood Electric on 2239 Nottingham Way, police said.

Torres and Kerr were taken into custody and charged with burglary and theft for this incident, as well as multiple other incidents involving the same business, police said.

The pair was taken to the Mercer County Workhouse where they are being held pending a detention hearing.
