Penn Medicine Princeton Health Head Joins Rider Board Of Trustees

Penn Medicine Princeton Health President and CEO Barry S. Rabner is the newest member of the Rider University Board of Trustees.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — Penn Medicine Princeton Health President and CEO Barry S. Rabner is the newest member of the Rider University Board of Trustees, the university announced on Wednesday.

"We are thrilled to have Barry join Rider's Board of Trustees," Rider University President Gregory G. Dell’Omo said. "Barry's comprehensive experience in leading and expanding health care institutions will be a huge asset to the Board, especially in light of the growth in health care-related programs at Rider."

Rabner has served as Princeton Health’s president and CEO for more than 15 years. The non-profit health care system provide acute inpatient care, behavioral health, rehabilitation and home care services. It is currently developing a $1.2 billion, 171-acre healthcare campus in Plainsboro, where the hospital is located.
It has about 3,000 employees and more than 1,300 physicians who work for five entities at about 50 locations.

Princeton Health became part of Penn Medicine on Jan. 1 of this year. Penn Medicine is one of the world's leading academic medical centers, dedicated to the related missions of medical education, biomedical research, and excellence in patient care.

Penn Medicine consists of the Raymond and Ruth Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania Health System. The University of Pennsylvania was founded in 1765 as the nation's first medical school.

Last spring, Rabner was an adjunct professor at Rider. He used his experience in health care operations to provide an insightful and practical view of health care systems for students at the university. He taught a special topics course in the University's health care management program. His course challenged students to understand the factors that drive the rapid change in health care delivery, and predict what hospital systems will look like in the future.

Rabner earned a bachelor's degrees in zoology and chemistry from the University of Maryland, a graduate degree in French language and civilization from L’University de Paris du Sorbonne and a Master of Public Administration from Rutgers University.

He frequently speaks and writes about healthcare planning, design, project management and hospital operations internationally. He and his wife Amy live in Skillman and have two children. Their son, Marc, is a pediatrician and their daughter, Dara, is a teacher who received her master’s degree from Rider University.
