Philadelphia Men Charged, 510 Grams of Heroin Seized in Mercer County
Ramon Torres and Robert Quinones were charged. The heroin is worth between $35,000 and $145,000.
Two Philadelphia men have been charged following an investigation that resulted in the seizure of 510 grams of heroin, Mercer County Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. announced Monday afternoon.
Ramon Torres, 39, was charged with possession of heroin and possession of heroin with the intent to distribute. He was also issued motor vehicle citations, and is being held at the Mercer County Correction Center in lieu of $200,000 cash or bond bail.
Robert Quinones, 46, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute and possession of marijuana under 50 grams. He is being held at the Mercer County Correction Center in lieu of $200,000 cash or bond bail.

The heroin seized could be worth between $35,000 and $145,000, depending on how it was distributed, Bocchini Jr. said.
On Dec. 4, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office learned that Torres would be using a Honda Odyssey to transport a large quantity of heroin through the Mercer County area to a destination in northern New Jersey.

The Mercer County Narcotics Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration set up surveillance.
At about 12:10 p.m., officers spotted the car and began to follow it. They stopped the car in West Windsor after it began to drive erratically while on Route 1 in the area of I-95 north in Lawrence Township.
Mercer County Prosecutor’s Detective Joe Angarone then utilized his K9 partner, Bela, to conduct a drug sniff of the exterior of the vehicle.
Bela gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics at the rear of the vehicle. A search warrant was then executed.
The heroin was discovered in the rear driver side storage compartment.
The Honda Odyssey was seized as drug proceeds.
A bag of marijuana was seized from Quinones.
