Pit Bull Shot During $30K Drug Raid In Mercer County: Prosecutor

Police also seized a handgun and $60,000 in cash during a raid of Brian McQueen's home this week.

A Mercer County man sicked his pit bull on law enforcement attempting to execute a search warrant at his house earlier this week, according to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri. The dog was shot during the ensuing melee.

When officers with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Hamilton and Trenton police attempted arrived at 29-year-old Brian McQueen’s Trenton home on Monday, Dec. 18, there was no response when they knocked on the door and announced their who they were. They then attempted to force their way in, Onofri said.

This is when McQueen threw his pit bull toward approaching officers, yelling, “Get them,” according to Onofri. The dog was shot as it attempted to attack the officers.

The dog later died while being taken to a medical facility, according to nj.com.

McQueen was then arrested without further incident, Onofri said. During the ensuing search, detectives said they found 72 bricks of heroin, 516 oxycodone and Xanax pills, $60,377 in cash, and a stolen .45 caliber handgun.

The seized heroin has an approximate street value of $14,400, and the oxycodone and Xanax pills have an approximate street value of $16,000, according to Det. Sgt. Brian Kiely of the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force.

McQueen is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, two counts of possession with the intent to distribute, certain persons not to possess a handgun, receiving stolen property, possessing a firearm while committing a narcotics offense and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to have him detained.

McQueen was previously arrested in August of last year, according to nj.com. In that incident, police confiscated 923 decks of heroin and other drugs after police found him parked in a handicapped parking spot.
