Police Use Project Lifesaver to Find Missing Lawrence Woman

The 78-year-old woman was found lying in the road within 10 minutes of the sheriff's officers being dispatched.

Lawrence Township, NJ -- Mercer County Sheriff Police Officers were able to find an elderly woman who went missing by using Project Lifesaver early Monday morning.

A 78-year-old woman who lives off Business Route One and East Darrah Lane in Lawrence was reported missing by her family just after 2:15 a.m., Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler said Monday afternoon.

She was described as “suffering from disorientation and confusion.”

She was wearing a Project Lifesaver-tracking bracelet issued by the Sheriff s Office.

The Sheriff s Project Lifesaver team searching the area picked up a relatively strong electronic signal. The team was able to find her within 10 minutes of being dispatched, Kemler said.

She was less lying in the road than half a mile from her home. She was taken to Capital Health Medical Center in Hopewell where she was evaluated and reunited with her family.

“Our Project Lifesaver Unit continues to perform in an outstanding manner and helps save lives,” Kemler said. “Older, disoriented persons who get lost in the middle of the night are unable to find their way home, which can be extremely dangerous.”

Three Mercer County Sheriff s Officers assigned to the Project Lifesaver Unit were involved in the search. Lawrence Police Department assisted in the search.
