Pork Roll Eating Contest Headlines Mercer Co. RiverFest Saturday

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — The Trenton Thunder's 9th Annual World Famous Case's Pork Roll Eating Championship will headline this year's Trenton RiverFest on Saturday.

The Major League Eating-sanctioned competition gives competitive eaters 10 minutes to battle for the title, and will take place inside Trenton Thunder Ballpark alongside craft beer selections, Case's Pork Roll menu items and live music from local bands including Modern Mojo.

RiverFest returns this fall as a combined celebration, again merging RiverFest and Trenton River Days into one event presented by the Trenton Thunder, Mercer County and The Watershed Institute. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The free, family-friendly event takes place along the Delaware River and includes educational games and exhibits, canoe and boat rides, live music, hayrides courtesy of Mercer County's Howell Living History Farm, and fly fishing demonstrations from the Ernest Schwiebert Chapter of Trout Unlimited, all in the Trenton Thunder's Front Plaza.

This year's event carries added significance as the nation prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of George Washington's crossing of the Delaware.
