Prosecutor: Mercer County Man Shot by Cops While Stabbing Father

A Hamilton Township man remains hospitalized after being shot by police who were attempting to prevent him from stabbing his father with a steak knife Wednesday night, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday morning.
Hamilton police responded to an apartment in Kuser Village on Nottinghill Lane on a domestic disturbance at about 5:22 p.m.
Upon arrival, police found Shawn P. Clyde, 36, allegedly stabbing his father repeatedly with a steak knife in the kitchen area. Clyde’s mother also allegedly sustained stab wounds in the incident.

Clyde allegedly ignored repeated commands from them to stop, leading the officers to discharge their weapons, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.
All three family members were transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

Clyde was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
His bail was set at $500,000, and he remains in the hospital.
The incident remains under investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Hamilton Police Division. The crime scene was processed by the New Jersey State Police.
