Questions Raised Surrounding Investigation Of Man Accused Of Fleeing Police, Killing Woman
Chandler Heaviside was being chased by state police following an alleged heroin deal when police say he killed Deja Farrior.

A Jackson man who killed a 22-year-old woman while fleeing from police earlier this week has a history of license suspensions and traffic violations, including driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, the Trentonian reports.
Chandler Heaviside, 22, was running from New Jersey State Police following an alleged drug deal on Monday night.
State Police said they were in Trenton conducting an investigation around 10 p.m. when they saw the alleged transaction and gave chase.

Ultimately, police pulled back, but Heaviside continued until he hit the passenger side of a Honda Civic being driven by 22-year-old Deja Farrior, police said.
Farrior was extricated from the Civic and taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Heaviside fled the scene on foot before he was captured by state police, who allege he was in possession of heroin.
However, Heaviside struggled with heroin addiction, but didn’t appear to be heavy into dealing, according to the report.
This has led the victim’s family members to wonder why police were targeting him in their investigation. Their attorney, Robin Lord, told the newspaper she plans to file an internal affairs complaint against the troopers who chased Heaviside to see how much of a role the pursuit played in Farrior’s death.
Heaviside's bail was set at $650,000, cash or bond.
