One person was killed, and one man was charged with DWI in the Sunday afternoon accident.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — A Princeton man has been charged in connection with an accident that left one person dead and another hospitalized on Sunday, police said. Ram R. Thatigutla, 50, of Princeton (West Windsor), was charged with death by auto, assault by auto, leaving the scene of a fatal collision and open container of alcoholic beverage, the West Windsor Police Department announced.

Thatigutla was driving a 2013 Mercedes Benz 350 south on Quakerbridge Road over the Quakerbridge Overpass in the left lane when he rear-ended a 2016 Hyundai Sonata that was stopped in the center lane, according to police. The Hyundai then crashed into a 2003 Yamaha XV1 motorcycle that was parked directly in front of the Hyundai.

Police say Thatigutla ran south on Quakerbridge Road from the scene of the accident on foot. He made it several hundred feet before collapsing on the concrete median, where he was saved by Good Samaritans. He was taken to Capital Health System at Fuld.
