Sheriff Offers Free Cable Gun Locks To Mercer County Residents
Mercer County residents can obtain the locks anonymously, with no questions asked.
MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Mercer County residents who have a firearm at home now have a way to safely store them.
Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler is offering residents cable gunlocks free of charge.
“The safe and reliable storage of a firearm is essential to preventing tragic accidents,” Kemler said, “And, under New Jersey law, a firearm must be secured if there is a minor in the home."

Free cable gunlocks are available to any Mercer County resident. Residents can obtain the locks anonymously, with no questions asked.
The cable-styled locks are available through a nationwide grant from Project ChildSafe. The lock meets the American Society for Testing and Materials' current strength and safety standards for cable gunlocks. Supplies are limited.
