Martinsburg, WV – Two local athletes representing the Motion Gymnastics Trampoline & Tumbling (T&T) Team recently competed at the USA Gymnastics Region 6 Trampoline & Tumbling Championships held May 17-18 in Martinsburg, WV. With 495 competitors from 36 schools across 8 states taking part in the event, Katie Prikril and Nikki Pawar of Lawrenceville, NJ collectively won three medals in individual competitions and teamed up to win a bronze in synchronized trampoline within their age group. ”Katie and Nikki have been working hard all year and had a great weekend. I’m very proud of them,” said Heather Edwards, head coach.
During her tumbling routine, Katie had the highest score among all Level 1-9 competitors and took home a gold medal in the Level 9, 11-12 age group. For her superb effort, Katie made the Regional All-Star Team as the 10-12 year old tumbler. Meanwhile, Nikki won a silver medal in tumbling within the Level 9, 11-12 age group and scored a bronze in trampoline Level 9, 11-12 age group. The four medals won by Katie and Nikki were among 33 total medals earned by the Motion Gymnastics T&T team over the weekend. Next up for the girls will be a trip to Louisville, KY where they will compete in the US Championships.
