The Upcoming Weekend: Art, Theater, Nature & More

Here's your family events planner for the weekend of May 14-15.

Here is a look at some family-friendly events taking place in the Mercer County area this upcoming weekend:

Saturday

, 10:30 a.m., Grant Ave & Hutchinson St, Hightstown. Come out and see pups of all shapes and sizes at this annual dog show. The event lasts about three to four hours and there will be about 150 dogs present.

, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Princeton University Art Museum. Drop in and enjoy a self-guided, interactive tour followed by a related art project. Admission is free – no tickets or registration are needed.

, 2 p.m., , 114 Franklin St., Hightstown. Sign up for 30 minutes of bowling on the library’s big screen. For ages 5 and up. Pre-registration is necessary for this free event, 609-448-1474.

, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Quaker Bridge Mall, Lawrence Township. The whole family can enjoy a day filled with vendors, crafts, giveaways, live music, glitter tattoos, face painting, an interactive circus and more.

3 p.m., , Washington Road, Princeton. McCarter Theater presents a twist on the classic fairy tale in this musical, which features a young beauty who is brought to a sleep disorder clinic. Tickets start at $20 (student tickets $15). Reserve by phone or visit online at www.mccarter.org, or in person at the McCarter Theatre Ticket Office at 91 University Place, Princeton.

Sunday

, 9 a.m., , 481 Drexel Ave., Lawrence. Join naturalist Rick Dutko to walk, watch and listen for birds in the Drexel Woods. Boots are required as the trails are wet and muddy. Some binoculars will be available to borrow, but the number is limited. The event is free, but reservations are strongly recommended by calling the Lawrence Township Recreation Department at 609- 844-7067.

, 12-4 p.m., , 2525 Princeton Pike, Lawrence. This event, which will be held at the high school’s cafeteria, will celebrate various ethnic and cultural groups in the community.  There will be food, music, performances and exhibits.
