Townhouses Approved For Portion Of Greenacres Country Club In Lawrence Township
The townhouses were approved by an 8-1 vote by the planning board, according to centraljersey.com.

Lawrence Township, NJ -- The Lawrence Township Planning Board approved a proposal to build 97 townhouses for residents 55 years old and older on a portion of the Greenacres Country Club on Lawrence Road with an 8-1 vote on Nov. 21, centraljersey.com reports.
Planning Board member Philip Duran cast the dissenting vote because he felt there would be too many buildings on the property, the applicant didn’t give much thought to sustainability and it wouldn’t be an enjoyable place to live, according to the report.
When Duran asked architect Josh Eckert about sustainability during the meeting, Eckert said he hadn’t conducted an extensive study on the matter, but the builder, Lennar Homes, installs Energy Star rated appliances, according to the report.

Eckert said the townhouses would be scattered among the 17 existing buildings, according to the report.
David Friedman told the Planning Board the project was needed as interest in country clubs has declined since his father helped found Greenacres in 1938, according to the report.
The members will maintain ownership of the club, and residents living in the townhouses will be social members of the club, with the opportunity for expanded membership.
