Trenton, NJ (August 8, 2017) – The Salvation Army’s Trenton Citadel Corps will be hosting their annual Back to School Bash this September. 250 filled backpacks will be distributed. Registered students in Grades K – 8, will be eligible to receive a free backpack and starter school supplies. The final day for registration is Friday, August 18, 2017 from 10 AM – 12 PM. Those who are interested must bring proof of income, proof of expense, photo ID, proof of address, social security cards, and birth certificates for all children with them.
“At The Salvation Army, we know that backpacks and school supplies are essential to a child’s success in the new school year,” said Officer in Charge, Major Valerie Kahn. “We are proud to be able to offer this service to those in need in Greater Mercer County. We are thankful to all of our community partners and donors for making this event possible.”
The event, to be held on September 7th at the Corps on 575 E. State St., will feature carnival games, prize giveaways, a visit from Horizon Health’s Care-A-Van, and Trenton Public Library’s mobile library card machine.
“The beginning of the school year is an exciting time for all students,” said Major Elijah Kahn. “We hope these new backpacks will allow students and their families to focus on school attendance and success now that they will be prepared for the new year.”
Several companies throughout Mercer County have held drives to collect school supplies for the Back to School Bash. Apples have been donated for the event by Licciardello Brothers of Trenton.
