Who's Running For Lawrence Township Council In 2019?

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ - There will be at least one new councilman following November’s general elections in Lawrence Township.

A total of six candidates filed petitions to run for three open seats on township council by Monday’s deadline, according to the township clerk’s office.

Incumbent Democrats Cathleen Lewis and Michael Powers are running for re-election. Councilman David Maffei is also up for re-election, but opted not to run. John Ryan filed to run, and is the third member of the Democratic ticket.

They will be challenged by Republicans Robert Pluta, Joseph Vinch and Eric Jaszewski.

Both slates are running unopposed in the June 4 primaries. June 4 is also the deadline for prospective third party candidates to file their petitions. The general elections are Nov. 5.
