I'm going to share some pretty hard truths with you in this - my very first - blog post on Patch. I think it's necessary to cut to the chase and tell you WHY it's important that you pay attention...not specifically to me, but to the "you" inside you that knows there's a better way to do things.
First of all, my goal is to help families break bad cycles, and develop and foster new cycles. A cycle is a series of events that are regularly repeated in the same order. Cycles can be repeated through one's lifetime and passed on to the next generation.
What are bad cycles? Here are a few off the top of my head: drug abuse, sexual abuse, obesity, chronic disease, illiteracy, alcoholism, crime, violence, and poverty.
Good cycles might include earning a college degree, business ownership, marriage, wealth, health, or some other achievement.
Through my research I've discovered one blatant and alarming difference between the perpetuation of a bad cycle and the perpetuation of a good cycle: bad cycles stem from broken homes. When one or both parents are missing; when there is chronic disease; when money is tight; when priorities are skewed the home becomes broken and dysfunctional.
I'm not talking about the funny kind of dysfunctional that we all enjoy (this time of year) when we watch National Lampoon's Christmas special. The tragedy we see every day on the news is the kind of dysfunction that occurs when families are torn apart.
But I'm not here to share more sad statistics with you - you can get that from television or a web search. I'm here to shine a light for you - to give you hope!
Lifestyle coaching - the focus of this blog - is a resource with which people can learn how to end the bad cycles and begin the good cycles.
In this blog I'll discuss finances, nutrition, fitness, family time, and community participation and how to reverse the bad cycles and gain momentum with the new cycles.
Consider these statements:
"Lifestyle coaching is a way for you to be reintroduced to the "you" you've always wanted to be!"
Learn how to stop bullying yourself and begin to feel confident in yourself and your abilities. Learn how to reduce stress and how to enjoy each moment of your life! Learn how to use your unique perspective to impact the world and leave a legacy.
"Lifestyle coaching can help you set a positive example for your kids."
It's never too late to admit your faults and correct them. Show your children - no matter how young or old they are - that "success" is a moving target and that in order to be happy and fulfilled we must continually strive to be better!
"Lifestyle coaching helps communities (like Lawrenceville) become stronger, safer, and more prosperous."
"It" is a cycle.
"It" starts with an individual.
"It" shapes a family.
"It" supports a community.
Lifestyle coaching matters.
Read this blog. Ask me questions. Let me share my talents with you.
Use lifestyle coaching to build yourself up so that you can share your very special, God-given talents with others.
I look forward to serving you!
