"Wild Winter: Elixirs and Spices from the Native Garden" a presentation by Rachel Mackow on February 17, 2014

Washington Crossing Audubon Society will host a free, public presentation at the Choral Room in the Campus Center of the Pennington School at 8 PM on Monday, February 17 by local writer, photographer, land steward, and expert on native edible and medicinal plants, Rachel Mackow.

As winter takes over, imagine yourself as a homesteader, miles away from the market and doctor – what if you had to rely on the wild for food or medicine? Join Rachel Mackow for a light-hearted excursion into winter survival and the bounty that exists under the crackling leaves and in wind-swept branches. In this slide presentation, she will highlight traditional uses of native and non-native plants, including edible and medicinal species.

The program will be held in the Choral Room (within the Campus Center) of the Pennington School, 112 W. Delaware Ave., Pennington, NJ. Refreshments are served at 7:30 PM and the talk will begin at 8 PM. The public is invited. Additional information can be found at www.washingtoncrossingaudubon.org. Follow us on Facebook.
