Little Egg Harbor Couple Celebrates 65 Years of Marriage at The Terraces at Seacrest Village
Irene and Joe Ficchi's Love Story Continues this Valentine's Day
LITTLE EGG HARBOR, N.J. – Over six decades of love is filling the halls of The Terraces at Seacrest Village in Little Egg Harbor this Valentine’s Day as residents Irene and Joe Ficchi celebrate an extraordinary milestone – nearly 65 years of marriage.
Irene and Joe first met at 14 years old while attending a mutual friend’s birthday party. They crossed paths again two years later on a blind date, and this time, the connection stuck. Irene knew early on that Joe was the one she wanted to spend her life with, and they have been inseparable ever since. Joe quickly realized that Irene was his perfect match – and soon proposed. They were married in 1961.
The Ficchis had a large wedding and settled into a home in Springfield, N.J., where they raised two sons, Joseph and John. Irene worked at Chubb Insurance before becoming a full-time homemaker, while Joe worked in construction and later opened his own auto body business. They resided in Union County for more than 50 years, before moving to The Terraces at Seacrest Village in 2024.

The secret to the Ficchis’ long-married life isn’t complicated: it’s built on love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for one another. Growing up in large Italian households, Irene and Joe both learned early on that family comes first – a value that remains at the heart of their love story.
When asked what has kept their relationship strong, neither paused before answering. With smiles, they shared the same heartfelt response: “I just love him,” and “I just love her.” It’s that simple, says the couple.
