5 Things You Need to Know Today in Little Silver and Oceanport: May 10

The weather lately has been unpredictable but you can count on board of ed meetings tonight and and upcoming Spring Banquet at RBR.

Be prepared: Lately, it seems that we need to be prepared for a little bit of everything in the weather department. Take yesterday, which started cool and soggy and by the late afternoon, I was cursing the added weight of my raincoat and that I had left my sunglasses on my kitchen table. According to the National Weather Service, Thursday's outlook seems fairly similar with a 30 percent chance of rain earlier in the morning and then after 2 p.m. My advice: channel your inner scout and be prepared.

I am a poet, and I did not know it: I'm fairly certain that the world would be a better place if we communicated in metered verse. Take this announcement for an upcoming fifth annual tea party for first and second grade girls at at the SSYC:

Hot topics: It's funny what stirs the ire of those of us living in small towns. Board of ed and council meetings are usually pretty quiet and then something like downsizing a grade from five to four classes or installing a traffic light comes up and folks turn out in droves to speak their minds. If you weren't able to make and would like to chime in on the Branch Avenue traffic lights, take part in our poll.
