Little Silver's Tim McLoone to Lead as Grand Marshall of Rumson St. Patrick's Day Parade

The long-awaited first annual Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade will march through Rumson on Sunday, March 10, rain or shine. The Parade stages at Victory Park on River Road in Rumson and will kick off at 1:00 p.m., marching to East River Road and turning right onto Carton Street, proceeding to the Forrestdale School, where the Parade will conclude.

Fox 5’s JoAnne Pileggi, of Fair Haven, will announce the marchers From the Grand Stand.

Viewers are invited to line the one-mile parade course. Parade announcer and Fair Haven resident JoAnn Pileggi, a journalist on Fox 5 and My 9, will announce each group as it passes the Grand Stand at the Rumson Firehouse at 140 East River Rd.
In addition to the Atlantic Watch, other bands include Pipes and Drums of the Atlantic Watch (Red Bank), Ocean County Emerald Society, Knights of Columbus 126 Pipes and Drums (Brooklyn, NY), Union County Police and Fire Pipes and Drums, Patrick Torphy Pipes and Drums Band (Middletown), St. Brendon the Navigator Pipes and Drums (Point Pleasant, NJ), as well as the new Christian Brothers Academy Pipe and Drum Marching Band. Two River favorite, the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Marching Band, will also perform.

Other Parade participants include local fire and first aid departments, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Knights of Columbus, Patricia Murphy School of Irish Dance, Fitzsimmons Schools of Irish Dance and the Daly School of Irish Dance, WRAT Radio, Marine Corp League 1313, local scout and girl scout troops, Shore House and other local charities, the Highlands Business partnership, the famous “Briody Bunch,” Monmouth County SPCA, classic and historic cars, the Sons of Ireland, Project Animal Worldwide, and local legislators and community leaders.
Rumson Mayor John Ekdahl says, “We are thrilled to be stepping off this Sunday with our first annual Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade and equally thrilled to have Tim as our first Grand Marshall. We appreciate the efforts of the Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee members, Rumson borough workers, our sponsor Guinness, our donors and Board of Trustees to create this exciting and colorful Parade. The Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade is sure to grow into an event residents and visitors will eagerly anticipate every year. We invite everyone to come out and enjoy this first annual Parade.”
