Monmouth Beach and Oceanport Residents Win Boys and Girls Youth Mile

RTC Training runners Drew Maher, 11, of Monmouth Beach and Marissa DeSantis, 12, of Oceanport took first place respectively in the boys and girls Youth Mile at Monmouth University’s Moonlight at the MAC indoor track meet on February 20.

After a few weeks off from running Drew crossed the line in 5:48 and running in her first indoor track meet, Marissa finished in a time of 6:15. 

“These are exceptional times for runners that are new to running indoor track,” said Robert Cavanaugh, director of RTC Training . “Drew and Marissa are exceptional athletes who have the ability to be great runners.” The Youth Mile was held during Monmouth University’s college track meet
and provided RTC Training runners an opportunity to see some of the best college runners in the area compete in various events including the pole vault, 60 meter dash, 5000 meter run and the 1 mile run. 
 
RTC Training is for runners of all ages and abilities to help them reach their running goals. RTC Training helps runners reach their potential through camps, private training, and group training. These specific training programs each provide individual instruction to help improve the runner.

The goal with every RTC Training Running Camp is to provide kids with a fun, relaxing, as well as a positive running experience for all ages and abilities. These camps offer group and personalized training that develop fitness, self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running.
