Bridge of Books needs volunteers to help sort and pack children's books. We receive many, many donations of gently used books, that need to be checked to ensure they are in good condition, then sorted into age appropriate boxes for distribution. Books are given to social service agencies to be freely distributed to at-risk children in New Jersey. Often, the books the children receive will be the only books they own. We hope to inspire children to develop a love of reading.
The storage and sorting facility is on the second floor, with no elevator access available. There is some lifting of boxes of books required. We generally have adults, not children involved, although we do make exceptions for teenage scout troops or other service groups if possible.
