Art and Wine a Fine Pairing at The Art Room
The Little Silver studio hosts twice-weekly "Canvas and Cocktails" events, which they bill as "step-by-step painting parties."
I like to consider myself the creative type and am pretty good at setting a scene with words. But when it comes to any visual medium -- drawing or painting -- the image in my mind never quite translates to the paper.
Good news, then, for aspiring, yet talentless, artists like me: in is hosting twice-weekly Canvas and Cocktails events that they bill as a "step-by-step painting party."
"It's not a lesson," said co-owner Tracey Witter, "it's a painting party."

Witter, along with her partner Maureen Hourigan, supply the pre-drawn canvases that budding artists can choose from -- including juicy fruit and a wine bottle and full glass that would make Jules from Cougartown proud.
"We thought that we could come up with some really nice things that people would want to hang in their homes," explained Witter.

The events, held on Thursday and Friday nights, are ideal for book clubs, couples night or even a ladies night out, said Hourigan. The Art Room supplies the paints and canvas -- not to mention the cozy work space -- and party goers supply the wine and snacks.
The only time Witter and Hourigan ask folks to stay within the lines is making sure to pre-register for the two-hour parties.
