Asbury Park Narrowly Defeats Shore Regional

Sophomore quarterback Robert Barksdale hit senior Amir Conover for the game-winning, 70-yard touchdown pass with 4:21 left in the game to help the Blue Bishops (4-0, 3-0) rally to knock off the Blue Devils (2-1, 2-1) and take a big step toward the division title.

A 2-yard touchdown run by senior Armond Conover and a two-point conversion pass from Barksdale to senior Islam Joshua had given Asbury Park an 8-0 first-quarter lead, but Shore scored 13 straight points to become the first team to lead Asbury Park at halftime all season. Senior halfback Stefanos Kousaris had a 19-yard touchdown run and a 23-yard touchdown catch to give Shore a 13-8 lead, but a missed extra point after the second touchdown proved crucial in the end.
