Good old-fashioned (and FREE) fun: Vintage ball game and Parker Homestead open house Sunday, June 12, in Little Silver
Watch the Monmouth Furnace Base Ball Club take on the Chesapeake 9 from Baltimore, using official 1864 rules. That means no fielding gloves. OUCH!
This game will be played on the Sickles Park lower field on Rumson Road in Little Silver, beginning at 1 pm. The team, consisting of players from their teens into their 70s, is based at the Historic Village of Allaire in Farmingdale. .
Nearby, the historic 1725 Homestead will be open for a meet-and-greet with players and to view a collection of rare 1909 Caramel Candy Co. baseball cards. The Homestead will be open prior to the game, from 10am-1pm.
