Bites Nearby: D’Jeet?
Serving up seasonal cuisine, locally-grown produce, and original taste

My new secret treasure this week is in the Grove in Shrewsbury. D’Jeet?, offering seasonal and local cuisine, opened a while ago but I hadn’t been to the Grove recently, until this past weekend when I went there with my friend and her family. Now that I have been there, I will definitely go back.
A small and cozy set up, D’Jeet? offers lunch, dinner, seasonal catering and business lunches. With an adventurous menu, it is concise with a little bit of everything. They have pizzas, appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, salads, soups, entrée, coffee and desserts.
I scanned the menu and spent quite a long time deciding what I was in the mood for. I was in the mood for something refreshing, so I chose The Chop-Chop Salad tossed with cucumber, tomato, avacado, hearts of palm, pickled carrot, whole wheat croutons, and peppercorn dressing. As the rest of the menu is more exciting than what salads have to offer, I do feel silly for only ordering it – one of the reasons why I will go back.

The three people I was dining with each ordered something different. Cooked with local ingredients, the Barnegat Light Sea Scallops were served with forest mushrooms, garlic-chive potato puree, and wilted pea tendrils. Trying to expand my palate, I tried a bite of scallops for the first time, and I will definitely order them in the future.
A wonderful short ribs special entrée was served on Saturday, and they were all the rave as there were only two left when we ordered. There was also a salmon special served over beets.

For dessert, we ordered chocolate bread pudding, chocolate cream pie, and french press coffee. The bread pudding was heated and of a brownie consistency, and served with whipped cream, strawberries, and carmel. The chocolate cream pie was served as a single serving pie, topped with whipped cream.
I also would like to go back there to try the rest of the menu. The Ensalda Pie sounds phenomenal, with baby arugula, red onion, prosciutto, shaved asiago, and garden herb vinaigrette. My friend insisted the burger was great, and warned that you must be hungry when order it.
The Joey sandwich also caught my eye, made with crispy chicken cutlet, provolone, baby arugula, tomato, pesto aioli, and balsamic served on italian bread. For seafood lovers, they have an organic Scottish salmon burger, crispy striped seabass, and crispy calamari salad. For animal lovers, they have spaghetti made with olive oil, garlic, walnuts, olives and parsley.
Basically, I will keep going there again and again not only because the food is delicious, but they use local seasonal and organic produce to support our community and our health. I want you to go there too.
