Bites Nearby: Uncle Jack's Good 2 Go

Craving some yummy hummus? Drive over to Ocean to indulge at Uncle Jack's Good 2 Go.

If you are a fan of hummus, but sometimes question your dedication,  Uncle Jack’s Good 2 Go may be your answer.

Located on Route 35 in Ocean, Uncle Jack’s makes fresh hummus, falafel and pita daily, using only authentic Mediterrean recipes. This is the only restaurant I am aware of that creates its entire menu around their hummus.

The menu, while mouth watering, is without dairy, meat, or perservatives. They do serve tuna, mediterrean style with lemon and no mayo. The menu seems overwhelming at first, with a myriad of different combinations available. I often get a combo plate that I can get two meals out of.

Since the pita comes on the side, I can combine what I am in the mood for. My favorite thing to order is the falafel plate, served with a choice of up to three salads.

They offer a cucumber and red pepper salad, a cucumber and tomato salad, and a green cabbage salad. I always combine two cucumber salads, top them with pickles, and get extra tahini and harissa on the side.

The combination of spicey harissa andfalafel with the coolness of the cucumber, hummus and tahini, and my pita sandwich is everything I want it to be.

If you are daring to try something new, just order a Big Jack with all of the toppings! A pita is stuffed with falafel and an array of hummus, tahini, salads, french fries, pickles, peppers, olives, and any other sauce you may want to add.

Testing my own waters, I have ordered the tuna plate to see how I would like it combined with hummus and salads in a pita (something I had seen only when I studied abroad in Europe) and it was delicious, just like I had predicted.

A unique taste, there is definitely not many restaurants like this in Jersey. There is a little something for everyone here, including Kid’s Meals, an endless combination of plates, value meals, and catering is even available.

Take time at home to peruse the menu, or next time you are in the area, just stop in!
