In the opening game of the 2013 Shore Area Summer Rec Basketball League, Team Dubois, led by captains Jack (14 points) & Kevin (13 points) Dubois, overcame a 40-28 4th quarter deficit to defeat Team Goldsmith, 49-45.

Team Goldsmith's Ryan "Big Country" Paglia (8 points, all in the 3rd quarter) led his squad on a 17-8 3rd quarter run with the help of Sam Martucci's two 3 pointers, but Team Dubois turned the game around with a balanced 4th quarter scoring attack.
Jake "The Afterburner" Turner (7 points), Kyle Koob (7 points) and the Dubois twins (7 points, combined) provided scoring from all over the floor in the 4th quarter and, more importantly, shut down Gil Goldsmith (3 points in the 4th quarter, 6 points overall), Mikey Deusch (7 points overall, 0 in 4th quarter) and Drew Maher (2 points in the 4th quarter, 16 overall) during the final stanza.

A disheartened Goldsmith said, "We've got to do a better job of getting the ball down low to Big Country at cruchtime. He's a beast under the basket and the other team can't stop him. They can only hope to contain him. But we have to get him the ball."
NICK CROCHET'S BASKET WITH 1.2 SECONDS LEFT SEALS OT WIN!
Just when everybody thought that the opening game victory by Team Dubois over Team Goldsmith was about as exciting as it could get, Team Harvey and Team LaMarca went them one better as Team Harvey prevailed 44-42 on a fastbreak layup by Nick Crochet with 1.2 seconds left to go in overtime.
The heartbroken LaMarca squad jumped out to a 19-12 lead in the first quarter behind the sharpshooting of Matt "Machine Gun" Kokolus, who drained consecutive 3 point baskets during the period.
Kyle Koob, filling in for Charlie Straine, led Team Harvey in the 1st quarter with 5 points. The second quarter was a defensive gem, as Matt O'Donnell scored the only 2 points over the period and Team LaMarca took a 21-12 lead into halftime.
Team Harvey dominated the third quarter, however, behind Max Cameron (5 points in the quarter, 7 overall) and Kadison Bates (5 points in the quarter) and cut Team Harvey's lead to 27-22 entering the 4th quarter.
Team Harvey continued to chip away at the lead in the 4th quarter. Leading the way were JP Harvey (4 points), Nick Crochet (6 points) and Koob (6 points) and they scored just enough to offset the 4th quarter heroics of Team LaMarca's Matt O'Donnell who scored 7 of his team's 11 points in that quarter.
Harvey continued to storm the hoop in the overtime period, scoring all 4 of his team's points during the first 1:58.
His output was matched by Team LaMarca's Matt O'Donnell (2 points) and Charlie Ruoff (2 points) and it looked like we were going to have a tie game.
But, with 3 seconds left, Team LaMarca turned the ball over near half court and a lead pass found the hands of Nick Crochet in stride as he streaked towards the basket for the winning hoop.
Crochet calmly dropped in the layup just before the buzzer sounded. He was last seen with a huge smile on his face as he was being mobbed by his teammates on the sidelines.
REMPEL, SAIBLE COMBINE FOR 20 POINTS IN 49-33 VICTORY
In the evening's only blowout, Team Saible, led by Captain Brian Saible's 18 points, dismantled Team Shirley 49-33 in a game that Team Saible led from wire to wire.
Jake Turner's 17 points and Zach deMello's hot long distance shooting (3 baskets from beyond the arc)weren't enough to get Team Shirley past the bigger, stronger rebounding Saible squad.
Turner, who played a spirited game, commented, "We've got to get bigger starting next week. I blame my parents for being short, but I think I can be taller by next week. That will make a big difference."
